The Bobby Moore Fund community initiative Football Shirt Friday has taken off in Norway. As always, BraCom is on the ball.

In the UK the event supports research into bowel cancer, the disease which killed Moore, UKs legendary West Ham and 1966 World Cup player. In Norway, Arsenal fan and Children’s Cancer activist Marius Klemo adapted the concept to support the families of children fighting their toughest battle.

2026 is the biggest year yet for the new charity initiative, and the BraCom open plan office was vibrant with national and club shirts on the morning of 29th May.

For sheer Ebay value the 2006 France Zidane shirt was a strong contender, stylishly worn by Sunniva Aasheim in the project delivery team. Mads Heim, who holds the role of Chief Production Officer in both Germany and Norway, chose to represent Deutschland today, with a classic white Kroos-emblazoned national shirt. For authentic fandom he was probably outdone by project manager Fredrik Haugen Petersen, who takes great pride in only ever sporting Ajax strips which date back to the period before the club’s 2010-2014 back to back domestic league titles.

Organising the diverse team photo and a fun Friday football quiz is project coordinator André Nygren Østbø, who had dug out his exclusive FC København shirt for the occasion. Incidentally, Norway manager Ståle Solbakken had a good run leading FC København’s European ambitions from 2014. For the readers who’ve missed it, Norway qualified for the World Cup in 2026 for the first time in 28 years. For all the excitement about the squad headed by captain Martin Ødegaard, BraCom staffers had mostly dug deeper in their cupboards and sported more original club and country shirts than Norway’s current replica shirts.

“There are shirts here which are older than some of the new hires”, chuckles Østbø. Prior to joining BraCom, he worked at the Norwegian football federation, NFF. “I am impressed with the effort of my colleagues today. It has to be said that at NFF the scarcity value of some of the shirts was very high indeed. A keeper legend like Frode Grodås turned up in an original 1988 Lillestrøm shirt. European tournament participants brought shirts they’d swapped with Juventus players away. Having said that, it’s even more fun to see my BraCom colleagues go to such effort for a charity event.”
