A fast and reliable internet connection has become an essential part of everyday life. Whether you work from home, stream, game or use smart home services, fiber provides a stable connection with plenty of capacity for both today and the years ahead.
But what actually happens after you order fiber? Here is a step-by-step overview of the installation process, from placing your order to getting connected.
The process begins when you order a fiber connection from Telenor or GlobalConnect. Once your order has been registered, you will receive confirmation and information about the next steps.
We then begin planning your installation. This includes checking the location of existing fiber infrastructure and identifying the best way to connect your home. Depending on the property and the local network, the fiber may be installed underground or brought to the house from a utility pole.
Depending on your agreement with the internet provider, you may be responsible for preparing the route for the fiber cable from the property boundary to your house.
If this applies to you, one of our customer service representatives will contact you to discuss what needs to be done and when. We will provide guidance, answer your questions and agree on a suitable time for our technician to complete the installation.
If excavation on your property is included in your agreement, or if you would like a quotation for this work, we will contact you to discuss the best solution.
At this stage, we will:
If there is no fiber cable already available at your property, we first connect it to the nearest connection point in the network.
Depending on the location, this may involve:
We always aim to keep disruption to gardens and surrounding areas to a minimum and restore the area once the work is complete. Modern installation methods often allow us to carry out the work with only minor visible impact.
Once the fiber reaches your property, either you or BraCom will bring the cable from the property boundary to the exterior wall, depending on your agreement.
This can be done in several ways, including:
A small hole is then drilled through the exterior wall at an agreed location.
We install a small fiber connection box on the outside of the house, from which the fiber is routed indoors to your home gateway.
Once the fiber has been brought inside, our technician installs the home gateway and any other equipment included in your order.
The technician will test the connection and make sure the installed equipment is working correctly before completing the job.
Once the installation is complete and the service has been activated, you are ready to use your new fiber connection.
You will receive the information you need to manage your subscription, as well as Wi-Fi details if a router is included in the installation.
If you need assistance afterwards, you can contact either your internet provider or BraCom Customer Service, depending on whether the issue relates to the subscription, equipment or installation.
The time required for a complete fiber installation can range from a few hours to several weeks. This depends on factors such as:
We aim to complete every installation as efficiently as possible and keep you informed about the progress and expected schedule along the way.
A fiber connection provides a fast, stable and reliable foundation for the increasing number of connected services we use at home.
At BraCom, we take care of the practical work required to get you connected safely and efficiently.
