As the first warm days of May usher in the brighter season, Mainz-Hechtsheim is taking an important step towards a digital future.

On behalf of OXG, we are implementing the fiber-optic expansion in this Mainz district and, as the main contractor, are playing a central role in the planning, coordination and execution of the project. This is the second fibre-optic project in Mainz for which we have been appointed as the main contractor, enabling us to contribute to the sustainable connection of numerous households with modern fibre-optic infrastructure.

Our goal is to provide several thousand households in Mainz with a sustainable, future-proof fibre-optic network. To achieve this, we are gradually replacing existing copper lines with high-performance fibre-optic technology. This will enable more and more people to access fast, stable, future-ready internet at home, while working remotely, and in their professional lives.

As part of the project, we are responsible for planning and coordinating construction activities, carrying out civil engineering and route construction work, and installing the fibre-optic backbone and distribution networks. We are also establishing building connections directly into properties and ensuring reliable compliance with all quality, safety and municipal requirements.

Thanks to our experience in expanding modern broadband infrastructure, we can ensure the project is implemented in a structured, safe and technically high-quality manner.

What benefits will the fibre-optic expansion bring to Mainz-Hechtsheim?

The new OXG fibre-optic network offers numerous advantages for residents and businesses:

  • Fibre directly into the building: FTTH connections provide powerful internet access for apartments, houses and commercial units.
  • High upload and download speeds: Gigabit-capable speeds provide a stable foundation for using digital applications in everyday and professional life.
  • Future-proof infrastructure: Fibre optics create the foundation for today’s and tomorrow’s growing digital demands, whether it’s streaming, remote work, cloud applications, video conferencing or smart home technologies.
  • Open access provides more choice: The open-access network model allows multiple internet providers to use the infrastructure. This gives users greater flexibility when choosing their provider.

Throughout the construction phase, BraCom will be present in the district, carrying out the work step by step. Together with OXG and the City of Mainz, we are committed to minimising disruption and providing transparent updates on the project’s progress.

During the expansion phase, property owners are asked to grant OXG the necessary approvals for the expansion work and access to their properties. This consent can be provided via www.oxg.de/zustimmen. As part of the expansion programme, this will enable free fibre-optic house connections to be implemented.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to OXG for their trusted collaboration and strong partnership. Successfully implementing a project of this scale requires close coordination, clear processes, and a shared goal: the sustainable expansion of modern, high-performance fibre-optic infrastructure.

We would also like to express our sincere thanks to the city administration of Mainz. Our collaboration has been characterised by strong commitment, reliability, and consistently constructive support. Fast coordination, solution-oriented cooperation, and a clear commitment to the digital development of the area have been key factors in the successful progress of this important infrastructure project.

Together with OXG and the Mainz city administration, we are making a significant contribution to the digital future of Mainz-Hechtsheim. We look forward to continuing this journey in partnership.
