BraCom’s new head of installation and construction plans to strengthen the team in the coming months. Håvard Stette Rørvik has personal experience of quickly gaining trust at the head office in Oslo. “My personal experience is that there is plenty of scope at BraCom for personal development. If you put in the effort, things move quickly, and your efforts are recognised,” he says.

Stette Rørvik had three years’ work experience at the infrastructure company when he was appointed department head in January this year. BraCom secured Stette Rørvik shortly after he graduated with a Master in Mechanical Engineering from NTNU in 2023, specialised in product development and production. By then, he had already gained full-time experience as a mechanical design engineer at Optimar in his hometown of Ålesund. ‘At the start, it’s easy to feel a bit overwhelmed by a completely new field. So it’s about approaching projects in a systematic way: the common denominator is production, regardless of the industry,’ he says. It has been an exciting few years, first as a telecoms design engineer and later as a process manager, including in Germany. He has now been given an expanded role, and installation and construction is a growing field.

Stette Rørvik is planning several job vacancies, and is happy to share some of the immediate plans. ‘We see a need for capacity and are working systematically to secure interesting projects such as fibre networks for housing cooperatives. Such projects come with quite high specifications in densely populated areas! That is why we are so keen to build a team where everyone sets high standards for themselves as well as for others.’

Optimal use of BraCom’s machinery is key to making the most of the team’s capacity.

“Initially, we’re looking for an experienced site manager, preferably someone with a hands-on style, or a skilled construction worker who’s keen to take on more responsibility over time,” he explains. ‘I’m looking forward to hearing from strong candidates who are interested in helping to drive processes.’ The 27-year-old is new to recruiting on Norwegian career platform Finn, and has carefully considered the qualities he values in colleagues. “At BraCom, we bridge the gap between planning and field work. Regardless of your area of responsibility, it’s best to work with people who take pride in their work every day! The project managers in the offices are entirely dependent on the professionalism of their colleagues in the field. They are the ones responsible for creating value,” says Stette Rørvik.

He himself has enjoyed working across various construction projects. ‘At BraCom, you’ll be involved in overseeing the project all the way from planning to execution and documentation,’ he promises, adding that the company offers training in the use of new digital tools.

He is quick to adopt new technology himself, but is curious to see whether the Finn job adverts will attract automatically generated applications. ‘We are looking for independent thinkers who only use AI with clear intent for trackable time savings, instead of using it as a shortcut,’ he says.

Among other things, BraCom’s team works both on its own projects as part of a turnkey contract, and in other cases as subcontractors. This means there is a great deal of variety in the machinery available for everyday work. “I’m a gadget nerd myself, and I worked at the Norwegian Halfords equivalent, Biltema, for seven years during my school and university holidays. Obviously, I always find specialised machinery and equipment exciting!”

When asked about the qualities exhibited by the very best in the field, he uses one key word: ‘Versatility! One day you’re working on microtrenching in inland Gjøvik, the next day it’s pulling cables from one apartment block to the next in Oslo. Some people aren’t so keen on uncertainty, but we like to hire people who thrive on variety in their working week.’
